Spring/Summer 2012

Penn Logo

Olympic year, the race is on

Our fifth year as Commercial Property Agents has started well with 100,000 sq.ft. Let/Sold in Q1. That will stand us in good stead when it comes to the Estates Gazette Awards later this year. Despite the economic gloom we are converting properties to sales and continue to seek more stock for our expanding applicant database. We have been working hard on some new initiatives, seen new people join us and expanding our services to include planning and design.

We hope you enjoy reading this edition of our newsletter and if you have any property requirements in East Anglia, please do not hesitate to contact our team.

It’s only a few weeks now to the 2012 London Olympics. Keen sportspeople that we are, we’re sponsoring Louise Jukes, who lives locally, and is part of the ladies’ GB Handball Team. She began playing having been spotted at a Talent Identification Scheme hosted by Olympic veteran, Sir Steven Redgrave, and has been representing Team GB since 2008. Last year she was a finalist for Suffolk’s Sport Personality of the Year and we’ve every expectation that she will fly the flag for the county at the end of July.

Dates in our diary

We sponsored a special drinks event for sponsors and supporters of the 2012 Suffolk Business Exhibition. Our exhibition stand attracted a lot of interest and we had a great day meeting, greeting and doing business. Our quirky competition - showing buildings in Ipswich from an unusual angles – sparked lots of interest and won Priya Nainthy of Jackamans a magnum of champagne.

Find out about our “all in one” approach to Commercial Property

We've teamed up again with Barefoot & Gilles and Leslie Short for the second in our series of seminars about commercial property development. This time round we tackled a complex issue - “The National Planning Policy Framework” and its implications. A number of attendees enjoyed an informative session held at Ipswich Borough Council offices. The speakers included Robert Hobbs, Planning Policy Team Leader and Steve Miller, Town Planning Operational Manager both from Ipswich Borough Council and Leslie Short. All concluded that the policy document did not represent much significant change and that some of the more contentious issues such as Greenfield development and converting B1/B2/B8 space to residential had been watered down. If you if you’d like to register for the next free seminar, please email sarah.overy@bdgc.co.uk or phone 0845 3055 711.
